          Winners Bitch, VCA Nationals 2006

PESS

Carmen is just about the sweetest Vizsla imaginable. She is easily trained because she loves people and wants to please them. When training Carmen, we often say that we don't even need doggie treats because Carmen will work for love and attention. Carmen has been a welcome addition to our home since 2007.

Carmen's Show Career

Carmen was shown to her Championship title by Susie and Jordan Olivera. Carmen had some very nice wins along the way, including Reserve Winners Bitch at the VCA Nationals on November 12, 2008, defeating 42 other dogs. Four days later, Carmen won Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a 5 point major at the Greater Sierra Vista Kennel Club dog show. On November 22, 2008, Carmen earned Best of Breed  over three nationally ranked Specials from the 12 to 18 month class, and finished her title going Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for a third major at the Canada Del Oro dog showon March 21, 2009.

In May 2010, the AKC introduced a new title called "Grand Champion" or GCH. Carmen went back to the show ring in the fall of 2010 and completed her GCH title over the weekend of April 8 - 10, 2011 with three back to back Best of Breed wins at the Turquoise Cluster dog shows.

Carmen in the Field

Carmen is so much more than a beautiful Vizlsa! I started working with Carmen in field when she was about 12 weeks old. She is incredibly birdy and easily earned her Junior Hunter title in four straight passes, finishing her title on November 9, 2008 just four days before winning Reserve Winners Bitch at the VCA Nationals.

Carmen took some time off from field training to compete in dog shows. After having her first litter of puppies in January 2013, Carmen went back to field to train for her Senior Hunter title. Carmen earned her SH in four straight passes at the RSVC/VSWC double-double hunt test on November 10-11, 2013.

Carmen in the Obedience Ring

Because Carmen loves working with people, she is a natural in the obedience ring. Carmen earned her final obedience pass in a VCA Versatility test on December 7, 2014, completing her Versatility Certificate in Obedience, and earning her VC title as well. The VCA awards the VC title to dogs who have passed a total of nine tests in Conformation, Field and Obedience.

Carmen earned her AKC Companion Dog (CD) title in obedience in three straight passes on February 6, 7, and 8, 2015 at the Heart of the Desert Classic dog shows at the Phoenix fairgrounds.

Carmen at Home

Carmen embodies the qualities of an ideal Vizsla, combining beauty, athleticism, intelligence and a biddable, sweet nature. At home, Carmen loves to snuggle and is usually at my side, interested in whatever I am doing. She attends obedience classes with me at ARIZONA DOG SPORTS and is working towards her CDX title. Carmen is a superb athlete, earning the nickname "Circus Dog" for her ability to jump and balance on small stools. She also easily clears gates that are four feet high, and enjoys outrunning other Vizslas who come to play (only her daughter Scarlett can keep up with her). Carmen is an avid swimmer and eagerly jumps in from the side of the pool to retrieve balls and other toys.

Carmen passes her beautiful looks and athelic abilities to her puppies. On January 13, 2013, Carmen delivered seven beautiful puppies sired by Tabasco. Carmen is a terrific mom, and thoroughly enjoyed motherhood and playing with her puppies (click HERE for more information on Carmen's puppies).
